Good news out of the cold north west. Ted Stevens has lost his reelection bid for the Senate to one Mark Begich. Glad to see Alaskans not wanting a convicted felon representing them. Also good news because it essentially keeps Sarah Palin from being able to appoint herself or someone else to the Senate seat after dismissing Stevens from the seat due to the recent convictions. I think they have to have a special election for the seat, but the governor could have run for it. That could have better prepared for a Presidential run in four to eight years, but since the convicted felon Stevens wasn't able to hold the seat, no need to worry. The future of the conservative movement must now find another path to the White House, and it looks likely to not pass through a Senate seat.
Begich claims victory
